Schuman Plan Cited at Trade Fair<\/strong> That belief was expressed here Saturday by Karl Muehlenbach, an international visitor to the World Trade Fair and Institute at the University of Omaha Fieldhouse. \u2018The plan is a true revolution, with countries transferring sovereign powers to a common central authority.\u2019 The six countries in the community are Luxembourg, Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. It is not a closed organisation. The plan has established common markets for coal and steel, and erased trade barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to economic cooperation, the plan is moving towards political unification, Mr. Muehlenbach said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A constitution has been drafted and is being considered ba the parliaments of various nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Calls for patience \u2018Europeans are getting away from the idea that New York is America,\u2019Mr. Muehlenbach added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said Europe recognizes the importance of the Midwest and is anxious to improve relations with this region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The free fair will be open from 1 to 10 p.m. through Sunday. Mr. Muehlenbach, an information officer for the European Coal-Steel Community, the plan\u2019s formal name, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stablished Market<\/strong>
He works at the community\u2019s headquarters in Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Mr. Muehlenbach asked Americans to be patient. He noted that it took the American people seven years to progress from the Continental Congress to the Articles of Confederation, and another eight years before the Constitution became the rule of the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
